Book Review: Dottie Angel by Tif Fussell

Design Magazine and Book Publisher UPPERCASE have published the 2nd volume in their Suitcase Series of books which feature the lives of Artists, Designers and Crafters from around the world. The second volume is all about Tif Fussell a crafter known as Dottie Angel who has shot to fame with her blog and store of the same name.

Dottie Angel: The Peachy Crafty World of Tif Fussell is a truly delightful book. Presented as a soft cover book with stitching details, clothing style label and an envelope complete with beautiful crafting supplies, the book is wonderfully inspiring both in design and photography.

However, of course a book is more than its cover or design. Inside, the pages are filled with the inspirational tale of how this 40-something married, mother of 4 turned herself and her hobby into a mecca of handmade goods and philosophies that have inspired many around the world.

Dottie Angel is truly an inspiring read. It makes one feel as though finding what one loves to do and turning it into something beyond one’s dreams is actually possible, and we all need that kind of hope!

I love how Tif herself puts it ” With this book, I invite you into my every day. May I then suggest you put on your rose-coloured spectacles, unearth your little imagination cap buried within the kitchen drawer and flow me into the world of dottie angel; a peachy eclectic bohemian woman of a certain age. An extra ordinary world, where the handcrafted thrift gods shine down upon you, household appliances have names, vintage slips are daily attire and high hopes are everyday thoughts…”

This book is a must read for anyone who love handmade and vintage, and who loves to get lost in their imagination!

Its very strange as I feel this book to be a gift to me….. I’ve never met tif and only discovered her a few weeks ago!
But felt her journey to be very similar to my own…. I adore my book and now carry it in my satchel. The pages of the book, the feel, the tales told, even the size are just perfect xxx a beautiful book I will always treasure xxx
I followed my dream and have an alter ego called mrs scoops after losing my very young darling mum to cancer.
Wanting to be me again and escape the saddness I hold in my heart I pop on a floral frock and serve ice cream from my vintage van called Betty after my grandma!
Everyone around ne is smiling and jolly….. Just the way I like it to be xxxx
